The Gathering was founded in 1989 as a doom/death metal band. In 1992 they released the amazing 'Always' album. Soon the band develops to an atmospheric rock band, especially when Anneke van Giersbergen joined the band a few years later. Albums like 'Mandylion', 'Nighttime Birds' and 'How To Measure A Planet' give the band their international fame and the band will become very influential wihtin the genre. In 2007 Van Giersbergen leaves the band, but in 2009 the band is back with Norwegian singer Silje Wergeland and the fantastic album 'Westpole'. In july of this year the band toured South America, now it is time for Rotterdam!
